Hamilton to join Mercedes

Would be good for Lewis if true- think he'd really benefit having someone he can respect, to mentor and give him positive direction- e.g. Ross Brawn. I'm not a fan of Lewis, but sorry to see him losing it a bit recently- and I'm not referring to the races. None of the current F1 drivers live in the "real" world (at least, not the one I know), not surprising considering the dedication and support they've needed to get where they are- but perhaps unfairly, I get the impression that Lewis has strayed more in to celebrity-land than others. Anyway, good luck to him- as long as he doesn't take anything from Ferrari ;-)

As you say Paul, if it's true. For certain he appears uncommitted to re-signing for McLaren. Mentor? Has Ron Dennis given up on him do you think?

My perception too.
But hey, Kimi is back. Kimi is F1!

Kimi is set to join Button.

Eccleston kicked it off by saying that MS was off. MS then did not deny the story.

How does Schumacher quitting turn into Hamilton joining Mercedes and Kimi joining McLaren? What have I missed?

The word is.

Mclaren have told Hamilton that they will not meet his current salary next season.

Mercedes need to replace Schumacher and Norbert Haug is a LH fan as is Ross B.

Kimi was feted by Whitmarsh last year and has get outs in his Lotus deal which could see him move over.

Who knows. I suspect the Hamilton move is not far out. He is clearly past caring how he is seen by Whitmarsh and his team. Button with all the good bits is hugely quick. Just not good on tyres in qualifying.

Did anybody else see Zannardi pick his gold medal at Brands Hatch today. Now that is a story.

The Mercedes-F1-AMG-Petronas team may have the personnel (Brawn, Bell, Costa, Willis) and budget but despite that their car isn't exactly setting the pace.. Hamilton would be much better off sticking with McLaren - they can produce a race winning car to challenge for championships and don't have the uncertainty of the MB board wanting out of F1 all the time being insistent on switching focus of motorsports solely to DTM.

Either way, EJ says a lot of things

Sorry it's nonsense Mclaren are in advance stages of negotiating Lewis's contract, quoted from Lewis Hamiltons management ,reported on yahoo sports.

In a piece in Saturday's Independent, Hamilton said that: negotiating a contract with McLaren was on hold as his aunt had died, that they were deadlocked on who got the originals of the driver's trophies, and that given the change in technical regs for 2014 some teams may benefit and/or master the new technology better that others - the inference being that McLaren wont.

Fine Lewis, go to a team where they'll let you keep your trophies - but there won't be many.

Am I the only one finding LH a little petulant these days?

Watching the BBC coverage of the Belgian GP I noticed mention of Paul DiResta looking for a new manager. Wasn't Antony Hamilton his manager? Anything to be gleaned from that? A reconciliation between Hamilton Jnr and Snr?

DiResta is very interesting driver and I suspect that most of the top teams are watching him. Interesting that Red Bull and Ferrari both claim to have rejected talks with Hamiltons management.

It's all good stuff and keeps the sport interesting. I think it maybe sad that LH is getting so petulant with Mclaren who have after all is said and done given him what he has now.

Negotiating ploy or truth?

One suggestion is that if the rumour is true di Resta will replace him at McLaren

No idea, but wouldn't be surprised if Ron's relationship is a bit too soft with him (despite Ron's reputation).

I think Mercedes would insist on pretty active mentoring (= control!) of Lewis given his PR liability and his desire to reduce his brand-promotion commitments. That in mind, he'd be a surprising replacement for Michael.

After LH tweets on Sunday i think McLaren might not want him button was upset by them too

Can you imagine if when Old Man Enzo was still boss, a Ferrari driver had released sensitive technical details to the media over the course of a race weekend? Or a Lotus driver with Chapman still at the helm? Or a ....

Anyway, let's get to the real meat. Where's KiMi going to be next year? And will Ferrari allow Alonso to keep his pet Massa?

I would think Massa's days are numbered. Bet Kimi stays with lotus.(if not back to Ferrari)

Guys Guys Guys, I'm not going anywhere yet!!!
