I am changing a broken drivers side air vent got it unscrewed but cannot fathom how the handbrake pull handle is removed so the vent aperture can be slid off. As it is now the pull handle is stopping it from coming free?

That should be held by two screws under the handle, but next time is good to mention the car is a w210

Thanks sorry should have said, but as said had unscrewed it eventually found that the pull is connected at the end underneath the light switch/fuse box by the cable. It was this that was stopping it from coming free, once I unhooked it from the end of the plastic "pull arm" the air vent and the handbrake lever all popped off spot on.

If anyone does this unlike me you do not need to take out the light and fuse block as the cable unhooks from underneath just needs the panel removing under the steering column to get access to. You do not need to unscrew the 2 screws under the handle if taking the air vent out once the cable is off as it all comes out together.
