As in title my foot / Hand brake has stopped clicking tody. It seems to work OK but just seems to "pressure up". As far as I am concerned it seems to be working, and I believe this has been a gradual thing over the last week or two.
It releases ok with the handle on right handside.

Anybody got any good ideas as whats wrong and the ultimate question of how much?

Thanks again advance.

May even be as simple as tightening the cable.

I know somoene who had same issue on a W209 CLK and it cost him £70 at an indy to have "something" replaced and fitted.

What you need is a small plastic device which attaches to the parking brake pedal. It comes in two parts the "clicker" peice and a locating pin. They are no more that £2 from a dealer.

Dead easy to fit too but a little tight for space under there.

Hope this helps.

On the ML it sounded like it was skipping a tooth on the ratchet. Service advisor told me that the actual ratchet is inaudible from the drivers seat, and so there's a clicker on the pedal that the driver can hear, sort of psychological reassurance that the brakes are on.

I had the same problem just as my MOT was due so I took the car to my regular garage to see if it was an MOT issue. He agreed with what BlackC55 said - its just a bit of plastic that makes a noise. It doesn't affect the operation of the brake and it's not an MOT failure. I've just got along with a silent parking brake since then.
Cheers - Jim

Thanks guys - as always the best place for an answer.
