Hi all

I have just acquired an SL 500 (R129) and am looking for local, knowledgeable servicing/maintenance as I'm not that handy with a hammer...

I am in South Worcestershire and came across The SL Shop near Inkberrow up towards Redditch whilst looking for a suitable car

Any comments/stories/recommendations from anyone who has uswed them please?

Thanks in advance

They have some beautiful examples for sale!

I'd agree with that. Good write up too.

Are they actually any good????!!!! Well without you finding anyone. Or a few people in reality it us a case of trying them unfortunately.

Get there prices. Speak to them. Get a feel for them.

Prefer a garage like this to any Merc Indy or a Merc dealership.

Unless proved otherwise!!!! Sorry not to be more helpful.

i have never had any services by them but i spoke to one of the employee's at the n.e.c classic show on there stand and he was a nice approachable guy who was fanatical about them which is a plus for me,although there niche is in the r107 sl series they are moving onto r129 sales a bit more the guy said.i wouldnt hesitate to take it there for a mooch about and see what the crack is.

Hmmmm.....

I think they have some nice examples for sale. While well prepared, I think they are overpriced.

I find them expensive for parts - they sell on e-bay. Shame as if they were reasonable I would have bought from them by now as they have some parts that are hard to come by. Anyway, I researched and found them a LOT cheaper elsewhere.

When my speedo went on my car, I e-mailed them to see if they had a replacement, and they replied saying yes.... so I phoned them and spent 10 minutes explaining that the mechanical speedo they were trying to flog me from a pre- 80 car wouldn't fit.

Only my experience though, and having said that, their website is very informative and thorough so they do know something......

Have only ever heard good things about them. They also have a Facebook page you can go on and ask questions of the folks who like them but that might be a bit biased.

Tbh I think it is probably THE place to go with your 129 ..

When I lived in that area I used Stirling of Worcester. They were the main dealers but then set up again after the great reorganisation

hi mate i have had my sec restored by them servicing etc, they were very helpful and done a good job on my car.

there work is quality no doubt but a bit on the expensive side but then again you get what you pay for.

i would recommend them for sure.

Thanks for all the replies

I test drove a very nice R129 there in November - which I thought was overpriced - but the chap was extremely pleasant and knew his stuff.

They have a good stock of earlier SLs - probably close to 80 or 100 all tolled and apparently sell about 2 per week on average.

As they are so close to where I live it seems sensible to try them for work on my new motor - but I just wanted to check with the forum first

As and when I use them - I'll report back

Thanks again

The ONLY place to take your sl ---experts and knowledgeable---more so than main dealers.(from experience)

So are you going to share or is it a secret? Can you tell us the secret, we won't tell anyone, honest.

What a stupid thing to put on a forum. Thereby rendering your first opinion to be trolling spam. Share the knowledge or do one

LOL. I don't know why I bother.

LOL. I don't know why I bother.

I think the point is that people think you have not bothered. Not bothered to explain yourself. You may well be right, but you have not supported your assertion. That looks like mischief making.

Awareness is heightened. It's up to the individual to decide for themselves whether that should result in increased caution. I'm not about to get myself embroiled in another forum slagging match hence,
Because I know different is all I'm saying............

Make of it what you will.
