The 5 Sp box is always somewhat lazy in it's shift response, by that I mean the shift overlap time is somewhat drawn out and the box seems to "flop" into gear rather than have a nice crisp firm engagement. Sometimes it can be frustrating as the TCM "reserves the right" to override your shift decisions and it regularly does and there's nothing you can do about it. It's really designed for comfort rather than aggressive or sporty driving.
The newer 7 speed version is much more responsive, in fact in auto mode it's probably a little too "busy", but in tiptronic mode I would say that this should be the transmission of choice for a sporty driver.
