strange question
ive a 75gb hdd that is showing 50 gb used space"25gb free"
but when i highlite everything in drive c it only says 38gb.
so i'm confused about the 12gb that i cant find.
any idea's

click on folder options, and turn on visability for hidden and system files...

Depends on what it's counting.

Also depends on the sizes of files on the system and what units of disk space are used for allocation. (So if a file takes so many 32K allocation units with 16K left over then you have 16K wasted - so lots of small files means lots of wasted space).

And then you have the space allocated to directories/folders and the file meta information (dates, access rights).

And on top of that NTFS will maintain a journal of transactions on part of the logical disk.
