Evening all ,

I viewed a 2003 ML 270 yesterday , I liked it . The jeep drove well and engine pulled really good .

The low coolant light was light and when I checked the header tank I could the coolant was sitting on the lower line . I carefully removed the header tank lid expecting too feel pressure , but there was none . The engine was warmed , could this be a sign of a failing head gasket ? The oil filler cap was clean ,and on traces of grey sludge . I had a 211 a few years back with the same signs , coolant loss , no header tank pressure and a clean filler cap . The fault was indeed the head gasket .

Should I walk away and find another Jeep ?

Could be many things. Leaking rad, hoses, heater matrix etc etc

Definitely walk away as it clearly has some sort of problem and there's plenty to choose from.

Thats my gut feeling as well with this car , and like you say theirs plenty more out there , thanks
