Headlamp wash count

If I recall, the HL washers are meant to activate every 12 squirts (or so) with xenon lights.

This does happen if the lights are on (as you would expect) but only per journey.

Once you turn off the ignition, the count resets to zero, meaning that the washers are hardley ever used.

Is this normal?

This is on a facelift 2011 registered C class.

Headlamp cleaning system

The headlamps are cleaned automatically if the "Wipe with washer fluid" function is operated five times while the lights are on and the engine is running more. When you switch off the ignition, the automatic headlamp cleaning system is reset and counting is resumed from 0.
