Has anyone been through the exercise of changing headlights on a left hand drive (ideally a 2004 C230) mercedes to conform to these SVA rules that say's imported left hand drive vehicles must have headlights that dip to the left. A problem that initially should not be of any consequence, simply fit UK spec headlights, however I expressed a wish to take my car back to the UK to the mercedes service manager here in Seattle and he gave an off the cuff opinion that the mercedes on board computer may give problems in as much it may not accept this change and likened it to adding a printer to your home PC, it must be programmed to accept it. This gave me cause to email the experts at mercedes Germany/ UK/Netherlands plus 2 UK dealers and to ask if they consider this a problem... as I can't be the only person to import a recent left hand drive mercedes with all its computer power into the UK, but to date not one has had the manners to reply. So I would be grateful if there's anybody out there who has had to deal with this dilema and if it presented any unforseen problems. Thanks.
