heated door mirrors

Can anyone help i have a 2008 e class the heated door mirrors are on all the time can they be turned off

They come on automatically at temps below approx 15c. This is so they also dry off any condensation.

No way of turning them off, other than disconnecting them

Why would you wish to switch them off?

Really? I thought they they come on when activating the rear screen element?

Easy to test, simply touch the mirror glass after starting the car, give it 30sec or so.

Thanks whitenemesis i just thought i just it would prolong the life of the element if i switched them off when it wasnt frosty thanks again for your help

They do, but when it's cold they're activated automatically.
