Hi, ive got a bit of an issue with my heating...it just doesnt want to work.
Ive had the duo valve changed, needed a new radiator so put one in and still no prevail. I have a non air con model. Do i need to change the heater control panel? Or isit something else.

This is what my heating panel look like

As well as this the centre vents have to stay closed, as only ice cold ait comes out of it

should i replace the control panel with this:

Mercedes * Heater control panel * w124 124 230e 300te on eBay (end time 10-Nov-10 12:13:56 GMT)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

have similar problem but been told by another member central do not put heat out, check out top bottom and side vents are working and close central one

Does it not blow hot at all or only the centre one?

The central vents only give unheated fresh air. Do the others give any heat?

The central vents only give unheated fresh air.
Only the cars without aircon. On the other hand I had a 124 without aircon and it did blow hot on the centre :dk::dk:

Im guessing it will be the control panel unit, so managed to take it apart and give MB Watford a ring, only to find that the part costs £482.93!!! I think im going to try and get the one off ebay, just hope it solves it.

Also the center vents use to give warm air when the heating use to work, now i just get ice cold...out of every vent regardless of the tempratuture

u get them on ebay from breakers for around £50 incl postage, but u have a duo valve near fuse box give that a tap with small hammer it could that that is at fault not the control it is stuck.

but check sides and up and down vent produce heat i have similar problem with middle one u was top it was fresh air inlet, be interested to k now if that is so apprently it says that in the w124 mercedes manual

i managed to get the control unit, for £15 from a breaker off ebay, so going to try it out and see if that solves it. The duo valve is new so i dont think its that. Some body told me it could be the heater matrix...does the w124 have a heater matrix and if so what and where is it?

it does i believe it is behind the controller and big job to take out i believe, another thing to check on yours does the fan operate on all speeds or just the highest, sometimes u will only see the heat on the higher speeds.

although yr duo valve is new it is probably worth tapping incase it is faulty u never know funnier things has happened, if no difference then no problems

I have the exact same problem in my 1988 300se w126, it is maddening! I think the matrix is partly blocked, i think some coolant is getting through the matrix, but only a dribble (enough to make the in and out pipes hot), but not enough to warm the matrix to produce hot air at any vent inside the car.

I've been trying, to flush out any blockage with 'Holts speedflush', but it's just not working. Help pls!

recommended:

Drondsfields . specialist merc breakers.

Have dealt with the in the past and are very good. specify exactly what you need with pics to speed up operations.

get a quote from them for the heater panel.

usually despatch in 1 or two days.

the fan operates on all speeds, even when i crank it to the highest level still get cold air.

Ive given the duo valve a 'tap', still no luck:wallbash:

I managed to get the heater control panel from ebay, but still no luck, does that mean its the matrix?

a long shot why not call mercedes they may have an idea but seems similar problem to 300 se mention earlier in the thread.

pm him to check hot water is getting in and out through the matrix i would guess.

presume the car is not heating up and no problems driving either??

any leaks inside the car under the dash

Tried calling mercedes, and they said it could be either one of the things mentioned, Duo Valve, Heater Control Unit or Thermostat. All of which have been replaced, MB man then goes 'book it in which our technician' at a million pound an hour:mad:.
