How stupid is this.
I was in my local hellfords browsing for a new sat nav which has a small television built it.
After a quarter of a hour on the phone the assistant told me they cant/dont stock that model as they dont have a television licence.:wallbash:

I moved onto currys and they said they cant get a tv signal in the store:wallbash:

Would you buy a tv satnav without seeing the picture ??

This was shown on the Gadget show last Monday night and the picture looked good, however you do need to use two small aerials that comes with the unit.

You don't need a TV license to store and sell them - only if any are actually going to be used on the premises .

I use my iPhone for satnav , and can also watch tv on it via the TV Catchup gadget , as long as there is a 3G signal , which is more likely than a good TV signal .

Isnt a Sav Nav with a built in telly asking for trouble?

Does it turn off as soon as it detects the car is moving? Otherwise it would seem like an accident waiting to happen.

Whats the name of the TV Catchup app?

When you buy a TV, the store will take your details and report the sale to TV Licensing (who, from my experience, will send you by post a new License payment request even though you already have a TV License for that address...).

I am assuming that what the assistant meant was they haven't set-up with reporting to TV Licensing yet so are not ready to sell any TVs until they do?

Sorry, but do you then need a TV licence if you have a TV (sat nav or factiry fitted), in your private vehicle?

AFAIK , your domestic license covers it , same as the portable set used in your caravan whilst on holiday .

"In 200 metres, turn left into Coronation Street".
