I've been a member on this forum for a while but have lurked in the background as it were, so I felt it was time I introduced myself.

I bought my 2008 c63 last April as a totally standard car. Me being me, I've been modding away since..
First I got it mapped (500bhp) then fully decatted (525bhp)

I was happy at that level for a little while and I tend to spend all my time/money on making my cars go faster so I thought I'd spend some on the looks.

So, after alot of drama (high offsets) I got some 20" rohanas from the US. Tyres had to come from Sweden.
Then I bought some carbon fibre bits including front splitter, rear diffuser and rear spoiler.

Then, it all went a bit **** up. I noticed a few random puffs of blue smoke every now and then when coming to a stop after being on a long run. I then went to a dyno day and run a 477bhp run. This got me worried, so it went to mercedes for a service and to have a look. They found 4 oil leaks, including the rear main seal. Which have now all been fixed.

At the moment it's in the garage where it was originally dyno'd where it run a 485 at first. Hoping it was a mercedes update which caused this, I added headers, an fi exhaust/x pipe, a quaife diff and some face-lift clocks.
After all this and a fresh map it produced 500bhp. The power seems to go flat above 4500rpm.

Which brings me to the present, we are looking at replacing the cams, lifters and adjusters as they are a bit noisey (under warranty) in an effort to try and resolve the issue.

I'm on the fence whether or not to upgrade the cams, as they have to come out anyway, or put new standard ones in.. But I'm having trouble finding any reviews on a set of kleemanns. Does anyone have any insight on this??

Thanks, Lee. (sorry for the long post )

I think you'd be better off asking Gasman and C36fan (I think?) and another guy- they're running pretty powerful C63's

Enquiring at MSL would be a good bet also

With headers, decat n map, to achieve 500 only is a bit underpowered. You should be achieving about 540-550.

What map are you using? Might be worth looking at Eurocharged V5 maps. Used by most C63 owners in the forum. Either through Eurocharged UK in Watford or MSL Birmingham or PCS in Horndean

Thanks for your replies.
I was thinking of asking MSL for their opinions on which route to go with the cams.
It seems fine up until 4500/5000rpm.. Where it should pull harder, it just doesn't.
It's currently got a eurocharged v5 map on it.

Just check you have the right Eurocharged map.....it's a different map for installing long tube headers.

I have never heard of cams being changed for aftermarket ones, so can't advise on that.

If you can get the cams changed on warranty then go for it and just get standard cams, I would try and get the head bolts changed out at the same time as yours will have the "potential issue style" fitted ( changed mine out for ARP studs)

With all these mods its important that each part of the cars engine systems is ungraded in harmony with the other modifications. Regarding your power flattening off at 4,500 rpm + is the car getting enough fuel-----are the fuel rail/injectors big enough or the fuel supply pressure adequate? Other thing that comes to mind is the gearbox ECU may have a software torque limit to protect it and may require remapping since and this may be cutting power at higher RPM ???? Just a couple of guesses?

I was thinking about doing the headbolts and maybe cam phase bolts while the cams are out. I believe you done yours one by one Lee? Have you had any issues with doing it that way since?
Grober, fueling is something that has crossed my mind. On the dyno it seems ok, but it may be worth looking more into.
As far as I know there are 3 torque limits in these gearboxes, one of which has been removed/adjusted on mine (I could be wrong) but nothing had changed from when it was at 525bhp and running well to when it run a 485 on the same dyno, other than a mercedes service.

So it turns out my lifters/cams are pretty worn out. So getting those changed out for some standard new ones.
Might aswell do the adjusters and head bolts at the same time I think
