Hi,

Just a quick note to say hello - I stumbled across this forum while researching the E class - it has proved to be a very useful source of information on all things Mercedes. I hope to contribute to the W212 knowledge pool once I take delivery in a month or so.

Regards,
Phil.

Hi,welcome to the forum:thumb:

welcome to the fold! :)

you'll enjoy the 350CDI, i am! just wish it would stop raining so we can go back to topless driving again :D

what have you gone for, saloon, coupe etc? extras? colour combo? we're a nosey lot you know...

Thanks for the welcome!

I've ordered an E350 CDI Avantgarde Saloon in palladium silver, spec as follows:

  • Almond beige leather with black ash trim
  • Command
  • Memory pack
  • Remote boot close
  • Reversing camera
  • Heated rear seats
  • DAB
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Omitted model designation

Regards,
Phil.

Hello Phil
Welcome to the Forum :thumb:

Welcome Phil, that's a nicely spec'd car.

Thanks AceJ - really looking forward to collecting the new car - have been driving a Mini Cooper S for the last couple of years, which has been fun, but it will be nice to have something that is a little more comfortable and hopefully quieter on the motorway.

This will be my 2nd Mercedes, I had an ML320 CDI before the Mini.

Regards,
Phil.

Welcome to the forum Phil, if all goes as planned I should be joining you in W212 ownership next year.

fantastic to see a non black interior :)

Thanks SPX - it's always nice to have a new car to look forward to. I read on-line that the E is expected to receive a facelift within the next year - could be good timing for you.

Phil.

Thanks, I took a bit of a risk on this - the dealer didn't have a car with almond beige that I could look at so I ordered it based on the photo in the brochure.

Sounds like a great car, and I agree on not going for boring black indoors. Good decision too to go for omitting the model designation - I'd be embarrassed to be driving a diesel too! ;)

almond beige is very light .. natural beige would go very well with Palladium Silver IMHO

The car that we test drove had natural beige, which we liked, but we went for almond beige as we weren't ordering a sunroof and felt it would help to keep the interior nice and bright.

I'm looking forward to seeing just how bright it is - when we were looking at the BMW 5 series we liked the combination of oyster leather with black carpet and figured that almond beige with black carpet is a similar combination in the W212 - time will tell!

I like the colour very much, we had it in one of our demo cars recently. But remember that blue jeans COLORS and does so quite quick as well. I would recommend that you have at least the driver seat treated with some kind of protection which makes it easier to remove the coloring.

Thanks for the advice Mike - is there anything that you would recommend for treating the seats?

I had my CLK for over 10 years and it had light grey leather. Most of the time I wear blue jeans, but there wasn't a sign of any marks on the leather when I sold it recently. I never used any special cleaner, just an occasional wipe over with a damp cloth. I gave the leather a treat with Autoglym leather cream about every other year. Simples!

The black smoke might still give me away ;)
I was going to mention that but knew it would upset too many diesel owners! :)
