Hi, my name's Massimo Visconti and I'm a new user here; I'm 31yo and I'm From Italy, 80kms north from Rome.
I work as a director/manager in an Hotel and i have 2 MB, a W208 CLK coupe' 200 kompressor sport trim from 1999 silvermet/black leather but my baby is my R129 SL500 from 1996 bought from a lawyer/car collector; the car has got 97000 kms and full service history and it looks like new, the color is n.904 midnight(dark) blue, interior blue leather(262) engine 119.98 and 4 seats; i've put on it original mercedes benz 17" rims 7 spokes from R230 SL version, changed the rear tailights to '99 model and painted the door handles to match the color of the car...i do have ADS on the car and it's perfectly working, the car raises 35mm in position1 and 60 in position 2, and above 120kmh the car lowers itsel of 15mm automatically, nice feature but i have two questions regarding this feature (ADS).
Reading here and there i've seen that ADs is very prone to break or misfunction, what to care for keeping it in working order? question number 2: the car when parked is too high toi look sporty; i mean, from the front fender to the tyre there's too much space and of evident aesthetic reasons i would like to lower the car a little bit, would it be possible to do this with the ads fitted?
P.S. i will post pics of my car as soon as i understand how to do it!

Hi and welcome - looking forward to seeing your pics..

Welcome to the forum. Might I add, whilst I cannot comment on your technical queries, I congratulate you on your use of English. Not an easy language to master by all accords.
I look forward to seeing your photos.

Welcome to the forum, what ever you do, leave the ADS alone, there is almost no one left who can fix these things, you do have ADS11 so any faults can be read out on a HHT very few around though.

Yes welcome.

Welcome! Hope you enjoy the discussions here aswell as the useful information. (I went to Rome last year and absolutely loved it...breathtaking architecture).

Look forward to the pics too :)

welcome and i look forward to seeing the pictures, we have the same car from the same year, but i do not have ADS so cannot help here

here are some pics of the car prior to changin' taillights and prior to painting door handles!
I dom come often to London with my girlfriend, London is the city I love most, I'll be there from 2nd to 7th of janary 2008!

hi Massimo and welcome on this great forum.

please if you need I've read of a person in Italy that is well specialized in Mercedes, as far as I know it's not a proper mechanic but a really passionate mercedes owner.

if you need send me a PM

hi

Marco

I see that you have the Homan 230 wheels, I hope that you are using the correct bolts to hold them on, as you cant use standard 12mm bolts

in the past i used to work for a very big french car dealer and i was charged to buy for him luxury cars here in Italy and germany and drove them to him, so i had the opportunity to try many cars, i bought in total 21 R129's, ranging from the 280 to 600 and years from 1989 to 1998...i love the solid feel this car has got, some minor glitches here and there but never serious problems, (the only problem was the 600, but it wasn't a REAL problem; i bought it from a very rich man from Mantova who tought that his engine was blown out, so he sold me the car for 4500 euros (something like 3K £), put the car back in France and i discovered that i only needed to change one of the ECU's (the Broken ECu was 3500 euros alone) so i bought an old W140 S600 very cheap only for taking parts for this SL and for other W140 i used to have in the garage...finally i sold the car for 19000 euros, it was an SL600 from 1993 dark grey/black interior with original AMG rims!

Handy bit of information to start off with! There also appears to be a major fault - the steering wheel is on the wrong side (lame gag...I thank you)

I really hope that he does have the correct special bolts, if he clips the kerb or a big pot hole the wheel can break away.

are well, cant do anymore

Welcome to the forum mate...while I also can't help with your ADS question...I can welcome you!

hi and welcome cant help you sorry but great pics and greater car all the best regards jon
