Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help.

My 190e wont start anymore. I have tried turning it over and every now and then it almost starts and gives me hope but then doesn't!
The spark plugs are fine/working, petrol is getting through and the distributor cap seems to be fine too. It has been sitting for about a week and suspected damp could be the problem - but i am by no means a mechanic and guessing really.

It was missing quite a bit before, so this could be a factor?

Is it a garage job?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Jon

Hi jonn

I had this problem a while ago on my 190E and it was a hairline crack in the distributor cap you could not see it by just looking at it.

What I did was wait untill it gets dark and got somebody to turn the ignition over while you look in the engine compartment and look for arking across the cap.

You need to check your plug leads as well as they can break down inside the insulation, check the rotar arm as well make sure it is nice and clean.

High tension system always a good place to start.- plugs, plug leads, distributor cap, rotor arm as suggested already. Use pukka bosch/mb bits for replacement parts
