Help, Accelerator Pedal

Hi,
My car is E250 CGI W212 with AMG sport package. There is a small box at the side of the accelerator pedal base with wires running into the carpet. The wires are not contain in any conduit. Is this how it looks like straight from the factory ? What is the small box? Appreciate it if someone can explain. Thank you.

I think it is the kickdown switch but I may be proved wrong.

i think thats the electronic accelerator pedal actuator
