I've had my c250 for a couple of months now and I am still really happy with it.. I gave it a good service, new glow plugs and a new battery - running well.. apart from starting! Constant cranking does the job but my poor starter motor!

I've read a few posts refering to air in the diesel pipes and after a quick look there was air in the fuel pipes to and from the filter-head.

When I replaced the fuel filter at the service I changed the o rings in the filter-head but with no success! Has anyone been here before? what's the next logical step?

Can anyone tell me what are the plastic components that are fed by clear pipes from the filter-head... one on the fuel pump and attached to the head.. could they be my problem? (have taken pics but too large to load apparently)

Help much appreciated

Hi

Problem is most likely the plastic clip type joints on the clear fuel lines, some have said to surround the joints with grease to help them stop sucking air, or just purchase a set of pipes from dealer. It is possible you moved or upset some or one of the joints while changing the glow plugs.

Good luck

Thankyou... will try grease later today and if no success will head to stealership

Had the exact same problem with my E300 TD, ended up getting a set of six little clear plastic pipes from M-B for £15, 1 hour to fit :D

Look for the first pipe that has air bubbles in when revving hard. That's where the leak is.

The plastic bits are the fuel heater and the fuel shutoff solenoid.

:) I changed the fuel pipes at the w/e and hey presto - starting problems are gone. Thanks for your help.
