I've done a search but cant find anything related to my problem, Basicly my W203 C220 is doing nothing at all,

i got in the car yesterday morning and it started fine but the dash wasnt working, no speedo, clocks indicators or anything button related.
The stereo was on but was very dim and the lights worked fine.

Having tried again later on the car does nothing at all, the key isnt being recognised, the doors wont open off the key fob, no lights, nothing.
I have already fully charged the battery and checked all the fuses i can find (i cant get in the boot at all) I've tried both keys and still no joy

Only thing that does work is the hazards button, can anyone shed any light on this? Im panicing a bit, i've got a 500 mile drive on friday!

It may have a faulty EIS, rear sam. It really needs to go on a star machine where you can have the faults read.

Also while it is on the star machine you can have the actual values checked of what is going on between the key and eis.

do you have a good local independant in your area that could have a look at it for you

I have a big merc dealer / garage close by but i cant get the car anywhere at all

My next step was to call out an auto electrition but if the rear SAM has failed i'll need access to the boot which i dont have

what does SAM stand for?

Does the car have full mb service history. As if it does you would be able to call out mb breakdown to have a look.

Does the manual key not work in the boot to open it.

Sam stands for signal acquisition module. It is basically a fuse box that transfers data around.

Its a shame you are too far away otherwise i would of offered to come and have a look as i have a star machine

ironicly it has full MBSH untill the current one ewhich is overdue.

sometimes living in Asford Middlesex would be far easier,

i've unlocked the boot with the key but there is no buttons or handles to open it with

i'm a bit stuffed

So you could phone mb breakdown and get them to come out and have a look the only downside is if they cant fix it on the side of the road they will recover it to an mb dealer for the work to be carried out.

Yeah ashford in middx would be easier as your about 100 miles form me.

What c class is this is it a saloon.

You're in Ashford Kent - so there's an MB main dealer very close to you - in Orbital Park! There's also indies close by - Class Cars in Wingham, near Canterbury, ISTR Lisa Jayne saying that Alpha Taxis in Cobbs Wood have STAR and service Mercs, then there's a guy named Steve in Maidstone who's had really good write-ups here or on "the other side".

i will have to try someone i have no choice.

is there anyway of getting in the boot though? its a salloon without folding rear seats :(

You should be able to turn the key (to the left if i remember) and then pull the handle like toy would if the boot was working normally and the boot should open
