Well I thought I'd cracked the 2553 error code but its back. Mercedes have had the car three times now and cant tell me what it is. Each time it goes in it shows a generic historic code and they cant find a fault. Any help would be great as Im getting fed up on diving into merc every time the light comes on. The exact code as per star is: 2553 008.

Mr google says:

Number: P2553
Type: Powertrain - Auxiliary Inputs - ISO/SAE Controlled
Description: Throttle/Fuel Inhibit Circuit Range/Performance

Mr Googles right but whats that mean and how to fix it. Merc at a loss!

Drives fine. Then at radom intervals usually after hard acceleration light on. Then the throttle has a delay. Smokes if pushed hard. Then if left parked for half an hour or so light gone and drives fine again. Only seems to do it after a longer drive. If just around town doesn't happen.

I will check this at the weekend. Sounds possible, I do get quite a loud almost dump valve sound from first to second gear. Perhaps pipe split or come adrift.

P2553 small progress!

:(Ok, the plot thickens. I did some investigating at the weekend. I found an orange plug hanging out on the intake just before the Maf. Its transpires Mercedes have refitted this once already. If anyone can tell me what this is and a likely reason it keeps coming out. Merc want my car for three days to work out why its coming loose! At least I have something to work on now so progress of sorts. Any advice appreciated.

Ben320cdi, I know this post is a bit old, but I was looking for a solution to my problem and found your post. I have the same exact problem with my c200cdi w203, when the engine is hot, the engine check light comes on and if i let it cool down the light goes away. The fault code is P2553, but I don't have any plugs that have come off close to the MAF. My mechanic is also baffled, he cant detect what this could be. Had you managed to find out what the fault code was actually referring to please?

Well come on Ben what happened, car going in for 3 days at Mercedes, what happened did they give up and send your car to that big midlands warehouse where all the mercedes they cannot fix end up,did you get a new car, come on tell us,or did you have to sign up to not telling anybody.

For those that may be interested. This turned out to be a bad map split intake pipe and clogged up filters. Pipe temp repaired, filters changed and car remapped. Fault gone. Thanks to Olly at PCS who sorted all this some months ago now. Car now sold problem free.
