I am getting an A163 Comand for my CLK.
Anyone able to help in fitting it - I live in Wirral, Merseyside, and will travel for assistance.

Thanks in advance
Ian

If your CLK is a facelift (steering wheel controls) then the A163 unit will need extra components if you want to use it from the steering wheel. To my knowledge the A163 820 14 89 and A163 820 36 89 units do not have CANBUS which you will need if you have a facelifted CLK. There are many many different types of COMAND unit. It pays to get the right one for your car. A163 units are all for the ML. A208 models are for CLK although others can be made to work.

Have a look at this site;

Also, there are a few threads on this forum which will help you to install COMAND. Take a look in the HOWTO section.

Good luck

Yep, it will make a difference if you have a facelift CLK, however if not facelift, then it will be fine!

It is a facelift - June 2002, one of the last W208s
So, is there a CANBUS adapter or something, or am I better trying to get a W208 unit?

you'd be better off getting the correct clk unit

Me too! Let me know if you find a good source.

Hi

Is this unit the proper one for a pre-facelift 210 1998? If so may be interested.

I've got a W210 unit in my CLK and it works fine. The giro is a slightly different setting but I've not noticed the difference. Don't forget on the facelift model that you need a trip to your friendly dealer to get the dash screen activated.

A208 Comand unit

Just found an A 208 820 40 89. I think that this is the CANBUS unit for my 208.
Can anyone confirm a.s.ap.

Will still need help to fit it - any offers?

if anyone wants a canbus adaptor then PM me as i have one for sale.

What is the difference between the 40 89 and 44 89 models?

I too have seen a 40 89 model and was considering purchasing it!

Thanks

As Alfie has said - isn't the 44 just a later model - don't both have CANBUS.
Alfie - is that the one on e-bay ending today? That was the one I too was considering!

Yep it was. I wont be bidding on it as I've just bought some new wheels and its unlikely that I would get 'approval' to spend more money from the financial controller within our household ;)
