Hi all

I'm currently fitting a Dietz iPod kit to my 06 plate CLS500.

Everything has gone well until I'm doing the final four connections.

I've led 4 wires back to the boot. These connect to the Canbus high
/low wires at the AGW.

Two replace the wires in the connector (pins 2 and 4) - brown and brown and red wires.

The other two wires are meant to be connected to the "vehicle side" Canbus wires - brown and brown and red again- these are the ones I can't find.

I've trawled through the whole site but can find nothing to help.

The instructions I'm using are here

I'm so close but just can't finish the job - any help gratefully received!

Pity no one could help but glad to say got it all up and running today after connecting the first two wires with the existing ones!

Not a job for the faint hearted as it involves removing half of the car but if you take your time it's perfectly achieveable.

iPod now playing in the car:bannana:

Sorry, didn't see this in time to answer. As you have found the iPod kits end up with CAN between the car and the AGW and translating messages to know when AUX has been selected and display info on the cluster.

Why did you use the Dietz kit and not the genuine Mercedes E/CLS class (W211/W219) iPod kit ?

Hi Richard

Thanks for the response. From what I've seen reading the forums if anyone knows these car's electronics it's you. Ironically, my next stop was giving you a ring to let you guys have a look at it.

Ideally I would have liked to have fitted the Mercedes OEM option. All the reviews I've seen shows it does the job. However it was purely to do with budget. I picked up a Dietz kit brand new,in a sale, for less than a quarter of the cost of the Mercedes one. Standard retail cost though I think it was comparable to the Mercedes kit. Even factoring in someone to help fit it I couldn't get the figures to add up.

I'm not suggesting it's the same quality as the Mercedes one but on face value it does offer the same functionality and I've seen no adverse reports - time will tell. I am wary of fake nav discs and Chinese command units but Dietz seems a well established supplier who does kits for lots of cars.

To be honest I can't believe it's such a time consuming task to fit it and all credit to you dealing with these complex electrics day in day out!
