C180 Saloon - AMG Sport Plus (2013)
Hi there,

My partner and I have just bought a 2012 (June) C180 AMG Sport (1.8) which we will be picking up in the next two days.

After searching the forums extensively I'm still a bit unsure of which system is in the car and how easy it'd be to retro fit navigation and reversing camera. Information I've found suggests the nav is built in to the systems hard drive yet the dealer mentioned it'd be a case of plugging the system in to a cradle in the glovebox.

I also noticed that online other people seem to have a Video subsection on their screen and this one doesn't. Does this mean it won't support a rear view camera or does the Video option only show up when there is a video feed being sent in to it?

Many thanks in advance for any help!
Danny

Email the VIN to Alfie/Richard at comand.co.uk and they'll tell you exactly what is fitted to your car and what is involved fitting nav and camera to your vehicle.

You will either have the Audio 20 radio/single CD set up or the more advanced full COMMAND online. The Audio 20 can have extras fitted such a more advanced Harman Kardon sound system and Sat Nav via a BECKER MAP PILOT in the glove box. Unfortunately it sounds as if your car has the bog standard set up. Command which had a reversing camera facility at extra cost can be retro fitted at a price It was a £2,000 OPTION FROM THE FACTORY

Thanks, this is what I thought but after finding some threads saying that the more basic audio20 is associated with pre facelift models and the screen would be hidden when not in use I was unsure. Especially as this is a facelift model and the screen is always visible.

As long as there is some way to get satnav in there on the oem display I'm happy. Rear view camera isn't as important it'd just be nice.

There is a specific socket to plug in a Becker MAP Pilot "box" to give you an integrated nav system on the dash screen. I would advise buying new from a reputable source as its cheaper than from MB directly. Don't be tempted by cheap second hand units as there seem to be problems with some when updating the software. With new you should get access to the latest maps as a free download if the map data on the unit has been superceded since it was manufactured. However Becker don't seem to update their maps that often compared to say TOM TOM This disadvantage is offset by the integrated nature of the set up.

'Audio 20' replaced 'Audio 10' as the entry level radio around 2004.

But the name survived for many years in different packages.

W203 facelift, W204 pre-facelift, and W204 facelift, all had a system called 'Audio 20' as basic radio options, albeit looking very different, and having different features.

Thanks for your help grober.

It's a shame there isn't a community built resource anywhere that has all cars/years listed with all available options and how to identify them. Not that I could find anyway.

That's interesting info and answers some questions! Thanks
