c63 amg coupe
Hi guys,

I'm currently thinking bout chopping my C63 coupe in for a A45, I would like to get some feed back from people who have made the same switch? I.e. Have you been happy? The pros and cons of quality and performance to fuel consumption etc..

I am in two minds whether to go new or used but I would want a full spec one which makes it harder to find used as I want most options, also the FL is due and that is another reason why I'm leaning towards new!

I will be going down the pcp route and it would be great to see what type of deals you got in terms of deposit contributions, finance rates and also any discounts.

Please help me I really need it!

Have a word with Acid at MSL in Birmingham. He has just changed his C63 for an A45 and is in the process of modifying it.

Yeah I will do, just wanted to see a few thoughts rather than just one persons that's all.

A quick search showed the following have:- C63Chris, Owen009, Jc63. There may be more and I searched on A45…it isn't mentioned that often so not many threads to go through.

Bet your ears are telling you not to do it right now.

ecain63 (Eddie) did but he posts more on Pistonheds - maybe search for his posts on there in the Mercedes forum.

I thing the a45 is more pocket rocket as c63 is fast cruiser
the a45 you will chuck all over the place and i doubt it will miss a beat
chuck the 63 all over the place and prob end up visiting a ditch
2 very different cars must say i prefer the 63

Hi mate,

I'm currently in the process of doing the opposite (trading in my A45 for a C63). The A45 is a mental car no doubt and very quick. It does however lack the refinement of the C class (hugely in my opinion) which is why I'm making the move - the endless rattles are driving me nuts! Depends what you want from the car at the end of the day I guess.

Well I have just done the deal on one, still don't know what it's going to compare like but got a great deal on a brand new one in stock so took the plunge. I know one thing it won't stay standard for long and will be getting treat to new bits as soon as it's run in.

Where did the rattles come from mainly?

I had a particularly bad one I think as others I know don't have anywhere near as many rattles. Mainly they were coming from the instrument cluster, front door cards and seatbelt mechanisms. To be fair to Mercedes, they did fix some by adding extra foam behind the panels. If I was more patient I'm sure I could have had them fix them all in the end.

Don't worry about these things though as they may never happen. Enjoy the car, I'm sure you'll love it :-D
