Hi guys, if someone could help me please, was playing around on the father in laws car, while he is away to install his new cd player put having trouble in removing the console, ive got as far as the screws in the actual carpet console piece, and ive removed the timber surround around the gear stick, and the ashtray, thats all sweet its the upper section.

the piece im having trouble with is the timber surround the air con dials and switches are, (ie the piece above the radio) i can lift the whole console up except for that piece, its still connect somehow, ive undone the 2 screws on the underside but it wont come out, where are the other screws. Ive even pulled the vents out, thinking there are the screws in there, but nothing  and also i dont know if its from pulling on the cosole and disloging a vaccum hose, but no air blows out of the centre vents, the sides are fine? need to fix before he comes home..

Carefully pull off the round heating control knobs by using a piece of cloth gripped by pliers and you will find the screws.

Cheers Guys, much aprreciate your help, will give this go on the weekend,
before Bill shoots me.....lol:)

Those sheepskin seat covers look nice and snug for winter... Frosty morning, lce cold leather..... brrr, not nice.

Which is why mine has the heated seats (both pads work in both seats)...really nice on those cold mornings:D

After you have pulled off the control knobs-instead of screws you may be confronted with two large flat nuts on the heating control spindles. Use a thin nose pliers to undo them-doubt if you will have a big enough socket. Then pull the panel outward towards you gently from the bottom and twist/rotate it slightly to one side at a time. Its hooked under the dash with two hooks at the top. Its difficult to describe but once its out you will see. I WILL SEE IF i CAN FIND A PIC.

You will also find 2 screws along the bottom just above the radio.. Hard to see but easy to remove. Actually you can see them in your photo.

Any idea about the centre vents not working?

the vent is open when the fan is on, ive adjust the grub screw at the maximum open position when on on full, could it be some type of vaccumm hose anywhere under the console? or has to do with the open switch itself as its electronically controled? ( i gather from the wires coming of it)

Yes sheepskins very comfy.....

Cheers Guys, you have been ever so much help :D

I don't know exactly how you removed the vents but here are some instructions for replacing the bulb (involves the removal of the centre vent)
CENTER OUTLET: In this case, first release the operating lever inside the vent using a metric Allen wrench (about 2 or 3 mm) to unscrew the flap link from the wheel. Shine a light inside the vent along the right side of the wheel - the Allen screw is visible inside - unscrew (turn counter-clockwise) the screw to release the link. On the right side, there is a Phillips-head screw accessible when the glove box door is open. As above, look inside for spring clips to retract that will allow the assembly to move outward. Use same size bulb as above. When re-assembling, after the unit is seated, re-attach the wheel link to the flap lever by engaging the Allen screw and rotating it clockwise. Tighten the screw only enough so that the wheel closes the vent with slight resistance. (If you over tighten it, you get to buy a new assembly...)

I have a nasty feeling you may have broken something when you removed the centre vent. there is a pneumatically operated flap in there somewhere. Heaters--they're a nightmare.

Thanks, you all have been a big help.
finally got it out, buy the looks of it the joker who owned the car before replaced the clips with nuts and bolts.

Also what do mean by " bulb" ? is that the vent switch opening mecanism that sits in the centre of the vent that i had to screw out?

just a note it looks like the power supply for that switch is hooked up the the hazzard light switch.

The nuts and bolts hold the entire console in and they can be a real pain, the wooden fascia should just clip like Grober said
