The rear seatbelt has stuck on my split/folding rear seats keeping the 2/3 portion of the seat permanently flat.

This here is the exact problem

Does anyone know a quick fix??

Dealer has said they can take it in... but have no hire car, so Ill be carless til the fix or get part.
OR I can phone mercedes breakdown - the car is in warranty - they can tow it in and they have a replacement until its fixed. The second option seems a bit harsh for just a stuck seatbelt, but I cant be without a car.

Has this happened to anyone and know of a quick fix?
Thanks in advance.

Hi - yeh that would work - hadn't thought about that - if I could get Mercedes to agree its a fault they'll rectify that could be an answer, Id then only be one seat down as opposed two.

I had the same only way to free it is to get slack on the belt, if you have a large torx bit t 50 / t45 I think it is possibly to release the seat base and undo the bolt holding the belt (also secures the middle belt socket ) but need to be careful as there the wires for the belt use detection are also here.

Unfortunately once it goes mine kept doing it so got quite good at freeing it only takes 10 mins and a bit of cursing releasing the seat base but is doable if you can not AIT for the dealer.

If you cut it think you will need a new rear seat as its a sealed unit.

According to the linked article , Mercedes-Benz replaced the belt in the magazine test car - so it should be possible .

Belts should always be replaceable items as they're supposed to be changed following a collision in which they were used , since the webbing stretches and is weakened - it's one of the things insurers are supposed to pay for .
