Help with cruise control on ML270Cdi

Hello

My father inlaw has a 2000 ML270Cdi and the cruise control seems to work when it wants to?

He does very few miles in the car and if he uses it for say a holiday and is in it every day then the cruise works. If its been stood for a week or so and then he uses it....no cruise.

No lights on dash and everything else appears to work?

Any help?

Any fault codes?

is there any corrosion on the ABS rings? This can cause this type of fault

^^^as olly says, a dead ringer for this will be if your dad finds the cruse control works at a low speed, but not a higher speed.

Hello no lights on..

Don't know about fault codes as he would have to have it plugged in.. is that the next step

Where are the ABS rings? can you view or clean them or are they easy to replace?
