Right, some last minute help...

As typical, the week before the holidays I lose my car keys. So now I need a new key fob, and the car in question has an aftermarket toad RK30 unit for the remote unlocking part.

After spending good part of an hour finding where the unit is (and hence identifying what the unit is), I now can't figure out where to buy a new fob, nor how to re-program it.

I know the older toad units had a on-off cycle used with the ignition, but I can't find anything for the RK30...

Ironically, the supplier I called wants £70 for a new fob (a new unit with 2 new fobs is £55)... so I may end up replacing the whole thing... but I'm still stuck with how to re-sync/add new fobs.

Any ideas?

Toad is part of the scorpion track group of which im an installer for.

I will give them a buzz in the morning to see how difficult it is to programme the remotes

Thank you!

I've been doing some digging, and looking at this manual for a similar model (but not the same) it suggests a sequence of on-off cycles to enter the engineering mode. ( http://dub-se7en.toyotagtturbo.com/useful_info/OTHER_PDFS/Ai606_Install.pdf )

So, even without a pin, I went through the on-off-on-off-on sequence, to check if that would work. Sadly, I couldn't see a led flashing anywhere...

So with my flashlight, I tried identifying where the LED is on the unit... but can't see anything that looks like a led... so don't think that's the right process... darn. (or maybe the ignition line isn't connected... will check tomorrow morning as I'm tired of going out in the cold/dark!)

If you can get any insight it would be great!

From just having a quick google it might be cheaper just to buy a new unit and by the looks of it it comes with 2 new remotes so they should be already programmed to the unit.

So that way it might just be a matter of plugging in the new unit and off it goes.

Have emailed my contact at scorpion/toad so will have a reply tomorrow

Thank you again.

Out of curiosity - I noticed your location is listed as middlesex... do you sell these units? I need one by Friday; and would much rather pick up locally!

If I wasn't in such a rush I would have preferred to rip it out and spend some time playing with it... ah well...

Welcome back :) Honestly glad to see you return.
