Hi

My Bro managed to get the dealer to include a HFP (i think) bluetooth module in he deal for his new car. We have managed to pair his Nokia E61i with the car and he can make and recieve phone calls but he cant get it to display his contacts list. Is there something he needs to do to get the list to show or will it do it automatically if its going to do it all?

Many thanks

Tan

I think you still need to download the contacts to COMAND. Try pressing 0000 on the COMAND and see what happens. Should display a number of messages like, "No phone connected" and "please wait"

Once i have pressed 0000 and it has shown messages what will happen after that?

Do I still press the 0000 even if the phone is showing as being connected?

Yes, turn on the COMAND, it will connect with the phone. Press 0000 and wait, it depends on how many contacts you have as to how long it takes to download.

When it's finished it will simply return to normal display, ready to dial. You can then check the contact list. (It may go to the contact list automatically)

Thanks, I will ask my brother to give it a try tomorrow.

I don't think HFP will download a nokia contact library.
Probably will work with motorola.

Dial 0000 and press OK on COMAND

Don't think so. It's just in the SAP manual and IIRC in the COMAND manual

I had the BT not SAP and it downloaded only Motorola phones not nokia.
So I sale it.
Now I have a SAP V2

This probably is right for the SL that the question originally concerned. But my W221 does not have this option. The only OK button you have in telephony mode is at the steering wheel and pressing it after dialling 0000 just brings the phone book visible at the instrument cluster. I'm using the old, V1 device.

You have no OK button in the centre of the input button. The one you use to enter addresses etc. Navigating the virtual keyboard?

No, the real keyboard does not have any OK button, neither the keyboard on the screen, it only has the "dial" button.

The E series and N series Nokia phones are not good at address book downloads to the HFP cradle. They (mostly) work well with the SAP cradle - although some of the earlier ones don't even download address book on that (phone comes up with an error message).

The 0000 <dial> thing is a SAP cradle thing, not a HFP thing. The HFP automatically attempts to download and gives up if it can not. The reason having to do something specific on SAP is that it drops out of SAP mode, into another bluetooth profile, transfers the address book and then goes back into SAP mode.

If you have a N73 that is not downloading to SAP cradle, then upgrade the software in the handset (download it to your PC from nokia site and use the cable it came with). This may also be true with other N series phones.

I have a N73 unbranded and give me an erros at more or less 400 contacts dowloaded on 650 so it stop downloading and restart BT connection with no contact!

I suspect that ties with the limit of the phone system. I have a feeling thay the limit is approx 500 minus size of the SIM memory.

Did you try upgrading handset software ?

I only tested with a few contacts

Cheers
