high mileage e220 cdi any good

I've got a e300td w210 and I've just seen a 2005 w211 e220 but with high mileage (225k ).

My question are is the w211 that much better than the w210 (rust etc) and whats the E220cdi unit like ?

To me 225k sounds like a lot for a 4 cylinder diesel.......if it's the one on Autotrader for £6k then I'd put my money elsewhere.

225k! Cripes, that's higher than the 06 plate E320's I saw on Auto Trader last week @ 186k.....

I think overall that the 211 is a better car (I'm sure others will disagree!). At 225k, think you'll need watch for worn suspension. The 220 engine in the E Class is a little underpowered for the weight of the car but I would imagine this one has been driven up and down large swathes of motorway at 'rep' speeds....

They will do a lot more, I've seen 500k quite often esp on the 320cdi. Perhaps take the meduim an look for a higher mileage 270dci?

i personally dont think its worth it the cdi engine NO way do as many miles as the e300td! I no this as my partner had one from brand new a e320 cdi ended its life at 350k Injector blew out, they get way tooo expensive to keep going unlike the TD .

Personally I think the 220cdi engine is decent and capable of 200k trouble free miles, but, not worth spending £6k for one that has done 225k miles.

So if I were looking for an engine to do 300k miles, ideally I'd pick a V6, but the I5 270CDi is also well regarded.
