I have a clk220 with the larger sports brake package.

At 70mph+ there's a noticeable vibration through the steering, car and the brake pedal. It gets worse the faster you go.

I'm guessing the front discs are warped. Does anyone know what could have caused this?

Thanks

I would visit the wheels and tyres, unless your getting vibration under braking.

As just said. Start with wheel balancing.

Are the discs new. If so take them off and clean the hub face with emery cloth so it is immaculate. The slightest bit of dirt will give you run out on your discs.

Then check your thrust arm bush. That's the front lower arm.

I forgot to mention most of the vibration is under braking. All the control arms have been replaced recently before I bought it.

A warped disc maybe?

You will have warped discs.

Remember (this is very important) that when they get replaced all of the corrosion on the hub gets cleaned back to bare metal otherwise they will warp again in no time.

I always figured the best way to warp discs was to bring the car to a stop on the brakes then hold the brakes on. The disc will cool unevenly causing the warp.
I try not to do this and drop the car into "Park" at the lights if I pull up sharp. Also very careful with the hose when washing the car if the brakes are still hot.

No idea if the above truly causes the issue on substantial car discs but I can guarantee this can be achieved on motorbike brake discs as does using poorly designed discs on the race track.

i once had a similar problem
turned out to be an egg on the inside of a tyre
just a thought
