That must be one of the highest specced % over list price Mercs
But don't mags just get them loaned off the Press fleet?

I think that Auto Express buy their long term test cars...

..

So what has it not got.

Standard 212 is so high spec anyway, AG or sport and I would not need to touch the options list. How I like it.

Will be a good used buy in the future for someone! :)

It's not difficult to run up a massive bill for options on any car. It's where most of the profit is for the dealers and car firms.
My ML has £9k worth of extras and the CLS about £7k.
But.... both were bought at about 3 months old and with considerably more saving than the cost of the options:)

UK spec cars normally have more equipment as standard than in many other countries , thus are already 'specced up' .

This is due to MBUK trying to promote the 'prestige brand' image here ; in some other countries they are just seen as well engineered cars and don't have so many extras .

And in other countries people keep the car longer than 2-3 years and will only spec what they need. Over hear, large wheels, COMAND, etc is everywhere.

I am not a big man for extra spec. Only really goodie bar large wheels and sports suspension I would add would be bi xenon lights.

Very nice car, impressed with the Child seats in the boot, only issue for me is it should have been specced on an AMG e63 estate

I can see people with kids and a caravan going for the sun protection and rear entertainment package.

more bills in 5yrs time when things startgoing wrong, only ever spec what you really need, you never get anywhere near the money back on these toys when selling onwards

And I thought I'd gone wild with my options list :)

Next time I will certainly fully load though - I miss the options I didn't spec.

I think that Merc is an extreme example and very rare

I'm not 100% on it but i recall What Car? editor telling me part of his job remit was organising long term cars from the makers Press fleet - and that would apply for all car mags i assume

Bah humbug to you lot.

The more toys the better in my opinion !

Autocar's S350 has £29K worth of extras bringing the price to an eyewatering £91K.
