how sad....

I hope that it gets repaired professionally from a decent repair company and that you do get the service you deserve too :)

Sorry that it has had a unfortunate accident :(

Is it just the photo or have you seriously cained those rears :D :D

Iain, well spotted!

3000 miles and the already look bald. They are Michelin Pilot Sport 2S which look bald on the outside from new. They are similar to P Zero's as they have a few different tread patterns. Mind you, they have been around the Nurburgring a few times flat out.

Funny that the driver was claiming that he was dropping off a 'friend', but couldn't remember his door number. :-) I got my wife to doorknock until we found said 'friend' who confirmed that the guy was a minicab driver. Got all the details, no one admitted blame. Time for the insurance companies to go to work.

He was on the right hand side of a one way street, pulled over. I was trying to pull in in front of him (indicating), and it appears he started to move forwards without indicating his intention as we got level. Ker-unch.

Ouch. Bad news. Sorry to that mate.

I'm guessing a lot of those blue marks will polish off, leaving just the areas that have gone throught he paint.

Hope this doesn't put you off the GTG - we will not look at that corner!

Does your lease contract state that repair has to be done by Chrysler or anything like that and does your insurance cover tally? Or can you have your insurer repair how they like now but just face a general inspection when the car is returned?

Scott - sorry to see that you must be gutted - perfect timing too :(

Like Graham says - we won't look at it - honest - other than to sympathise maybe.

Minicab drivers scare me to death half the time - they are on of those - "this road is for me not you" sets of road users :(

edited to add - look at the time - and we're all online -

The GTG will not suffer a reduced attendance at the hands of the taxicab bandit! I'll be there. :bannana:

Thanks for the supporting thoughts all! I chose not to get very angry about it last night, and I feel much better about it this morning.

Sorry to hear about your car... unfortunate and I sympthise with you. Dont mean to hi jack the thread but we got a call from Stealer late yesterday to say that the CLK CAB we were suppsoed to be collecting tomorrow has been damaged and invovled in accident whilst on an alleged "test drive" after the PDI. No way am I going to accept it and strange thing is that its supposed to already be in the bodyshop getting repaired... been looking so forward to it all this time. Something is not right as they were reluctant for us to inspect. Unless they come up with another brand new car soon then I'll just get the deposit back.... :(

Spoke with Directline this morning, and they are happy for me to go to the Chrysler Dealer recommended repairer in Bishops Stortford.

So far they have been very good to deal with. Found and checked the other guy's insurance whilst I was on the phone!

Good dealings so far with Directline, very helpful. Will go up and get the quote tomorrow.

Flash,

Gutted for you! Don't accept it. Ask for another.

I betcha that he doesnt have insurance for hire and reward... (circa £6k per year in London now).

This may or may not work to your advantage depending on how you play this. If you tell the insurance companies, he will be uninsured and you both lose. If you use it as leverage to get him to admit fault, it may be the best (not the right) way forward.

Thanks for that tip!

if they won't let you inspect, it must be really serious. I would definitely stay away from the car.

Tell them you want another one (make sure you order slightly different spec so they can't palm the damaged one off on you) and in the meantime, they need to provide you with a courtesy car.

Good news Scot about authorisation of repair through Chrsyler... hopefully they they will do a first class job.

It is bad just as expected... other half unexpectedly went to bodshop and turned up this morning and front wing on drivers side, bumper, bonnet and alloy need to be replaced in additon to headlamp.grill etc (at least).

Even it was minor we would not accept it - waiting for Sales Manager to get back with a resolution about new car... asked about courteoust car and they went funny... we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks for tip for changing spec slightly (she made a note of the chassin details.engine no. etc. as I told her to.

Scott,

Nooooooo!! :( Sorry to hear the car's been hit mate :(

At least it sounds like the insurance is coming up trumps for you. It looks like the damage should be easily fixed. Hope you get sorted soon and with the minimum of fuss.

BTW I agree with Ian, your rear tyres do look 'well worn' ;)

Heh, I'll have to remember that excuse :p I reckon they've been 'Ringed

Scott,

Do you know who the repairer is in Bishops Stortford. My guess is it will be Hilton Coachworks. If so check and double check the repair, I had a vito van go there for a new side door skin and the muppets cut out the rust, filled the hole with putty and sprayed.
Looked good untill the door was slammed shut a few weeks later and the putty fell out the door leaving a lovely hole.

EEEK! That's the repairer, as recommended by Chrysler!
