Sadly , there are many more uninsured drivers and vehicles out there than most people realise .From:
Who Pays for Damage Caused by a Stolen Car? - RTA Claims
www.rtaclaims.co.uk
"In the UK, when a vehicle is stolen and subsequently involved in an accident or causes damage in some way or form, the initial source of compensation is usually the insurance policy of the stolen vehicle's owner. "
So as long as the stolen vehicle was insured (which is likely to be the case), then the stolen vehicle's insurer should pay up for the write-off of your sister's car as well as any damages to the property.
If you can't find out who the other car was insured with, then you may need to go through your own insurer first (and they will claim the damage off the other-party's insurer). But ideally, you'll contact the stolen car's insurer directly. Did you make a note of the VRM? If not, you can ask the police for the details of the other vehicle (it will probably be in the police report anyway).
While I'm not condoning, uninsured drivers, absolutely, definitely not... Ridiculous insurance premiums. Unfortunately are probably slightly to blame, in some cases.
Aw bless her. Fantastic achievementA big thanks to everybody - Amy raised £1,112 for MIND and finished in a respectable 2hrs 40mins (first time she has done any running!)

Amy is our niece and was very close to Sophia (my sister's daughter) who sadly took her own life a year ago. The main contributor was poor mental health, hence the sponsored run in support of MINDNice one.
I do apologise but I missed wherever it was first mentioned but could I ask what relationship is Amy to you and your Sister ?
