The law requires you report it in person within 24 hours - ie can not be your wife and can not be done over the phone.

Oh dear I think thats out the window now,as its been over 24hrs.

Im a lot better now no more stiff neck, so thankfully no trips to A&E

What a kerfuffle with reporting it all now. Last accident I had (not my fault) we didn't call the Police, and the insurance companies didn't advise us to do so either.

But if someone is injured you do have to, and always have had to report it.

Depends on whether there were any injuries - either way, the insurance company couldn't care less whether you get arrested for leaving the scene of an accident etc...
