Anybody know if they are any good and if they are where I can get one? Can the roof be left on the hoist or should it be put ontop the rack?

All comments gratefully received

Very useful as long as you have a garage that is big enough for an SL to fit with lots of room around it and you have a beam that you trust to hang the hoist :D

hoist

Have been advised that although the hoists r in general good - and save a lot of worry - you have to be careful which one you choose especially if you intend storing it on the hoist. I would still store it on the rack personally. Have seen different ones advertised in the back of merc mags etc.

Genuine M-B hoists come up on eBay periodically, they are intended for storing the hard top (not just lifting it off). Wish I had a garage!

Hi

I bought a manual hoist on ebay a few months ago (panoramic roof). Cost £80 and an excellent buy.

They look a bit dangerous with the roof suspended above the car so I'd reccomend fitting a couple of cargo straps as wel for extra safety.

£80 is a good price. I've just paid £130 for a manual one off ebay

For storage I have a brand new unused hard top bag up for grabs. It slides over the har dtop & then then you hang it on the (garage/ house/shed ) wall out of the way - .

I have one of those padded bags, don't have anywhere to hang it but it's great protection for the hardtop when it's on the trolley or being moved around.

Resurrected question/outcome

Has anyone found any other roof hoist suppliers?

I found this one, they look expensive, but there again for keeping the roof out the way and avoiding roth of SWMBO ...

Also this for bags:

Any comments on any of these?
Or anyone used either?

Thanks

The Auto-Pak bag is what I have, but I've not used it for hanging the hard top on the wall ... just general protection and keeping the dust off when it's on the trolley.
