I've just found something out with my energy bills through E.ON this morning.

I'm on the Dual online, no paper bills discount tarrif. HOWEVER I've just found out that every month or so they bring a new 'version' of this tarrif out (currently just changed to V.14 today).

Anyway, the long and short of it is that unless you actually ask to change, you stay on your current version, and basically, they are exactly the same and the same terms and conditions, just a bigger discount and slightly cheaper rate!

The guy just told me I would save nearly £100 this year based on my current tarrif now I'd changed - man was i pee'd off.. I KNOW they do this to try to catch people out and make the tarrifs look good to prospective new joiners, but that is so annoying.

BTW, there is no new contract, no tie in, nothing - you just have to ASK to change tarrifs!

If anyone else is with them I advise you to check and see if you can change!

I bet they arent the only ones who get up to these type of tricks.
Building societies operate a very similar system. You have to keep checking you are getting the best deal all the time.
Having said that, perhaps we shouldnt be too surprised.
Most MP's are on the boards of utility companies and building societies.

Don't talk to me about E.On. I have a flat with them on Economy 7, the day rate is approx 5 times the price of the night rate, which is the time you want to heat rooms, water, do the washing, etc but it kicks in during the summer months at 1.30am. Great, eh?

I was also billed by them for a year for someone else's meter. They found this out 6 months ago and yet have still not sorted it out.

That explains how I got my mortgage... with figures that could have been written by Peter Mandelson himself!

Yeah it's the classic "hoik you in" rates :D

But the HAVE just bought the prices down from April on my existing tarrif, so its not like i thoguht they weren't changing the rates to be the lowest, it's just I didn't ask for the V.14 Extra Saver :dk::devil:
