How can I tell if I have air conditioning?

I have a 1995 C180 W202. The "heater" switch goes from 1-5 with no indication that any of the settings relate to air conditioning. In any event, I suspect the AC would not have been recharged since the car was manufactured.

Getting a squeal when I start the engine which suggests to me I need to replace the poly v belt, but the size of this is dependant on whether I have AC or not. The pulleys which are in my owner's manual do not reflect what I see in the engine!

I know this sounds like a totally ridiculous question, but what's the easiest way for me to check whether I have AC?

If it has aircon there will be a button labelled either "AC" or "EC" which allows the compressor to be turned on/off (better fuel economy with it off).

No button of that kind at all, so I'm thinking no aircon! Thanks for clearing that up!

Assuming i have the right engine pic, item 13 is the pump.

Post a picture of your heater controls and we will be able to tell you for sure.

Deffo no aircon, thats the basic very early W202 controls.

Here are the same controls with Aircon - note there are 4 buttons where as you have 1 long recirculate button and 2 'fake' buttons:

And here is the early climate control:
