Thanks.

Wow..errr...wow..hmm... Ill have a look in me shed but I dont think so sorry. What colour does it need to be:crazy:

Hmmm - dont think there is such a format as mpeg-3 is there?

There is mpeg, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, mpeg-4 all video formats
and mp3 for audio

MPEG or Moving Pictures Entertainment Group video files use sophisticated compression techniques to produce smaller file sizes at high viewing quality. MPEG is cross-platform compatible, playable on all computer systems.

MPEG 1, a low-resolution storage format that significantly reduces file size without compromising on perceived video and audio quality, records VCDs. Digital cameras and camcorders also use this format to capture and transfer small video clips - many of the clips posted on the Internet use this technology as well. You can play it on any Pentium computer.

MPEG 2 is a much higher resolution format, holding twice as much data and increasing quality and resolution two fold. Commonly used in recording DVDs and digital satellite TV, it needs a Pentium 350-450 for viewing.

MPEG 4 is an advanced streaming and downloading format that provides high quality compression. It can reduce MPEG2 file size to 10% of the original while retaining quality. It uses different encoding methods to achieve good visual quality and speed. Its codec supports different languages; its most popular variation, DIVX can therefore support 3D animation, text and a host of other media. Its technological applications also extend to portable video recorders. You can download it from the Internet to play on your computer, share it over the Internet, and even play it on some of the newer DVD players.

try a google search, there are sure to be some free ones otherwise try

Some of them metallic :D :D including silver :D :D

But back to subject - I know this has been an issue before for people buying through iTunes as it's not the Vid but the audio tracks too which iTunes delivers in Mpeg4 format. Makes using a diff MP3 player a problem.

;-) They are actually protected AAC files, when purchased from the iTunes music store.

Fudger,

Are you on a Mac or a PC?

Guys, I am on a PC and there is such a thing as an MPEG-4 audio file as well as video.

The way I have got round the issue is to burn an audio CD from ITunes and then rip the audio CD with Windows Media 10. However, I loose the track details in the process so then have to manually update each track.

Keep trying for me guys :)

MPEG-4 is a compression standard - there are two forms for the codecs that can apply to both video and audio - AAC is Apple's version for audio that may well see the introduction of an MP4 audio standard (MP3 is based on MPEG-1 by the way).

Try this

Fudger, I think I have a link somewhere for how to do this on the PC. I was asking, as there are a few mac based solutions that work very well. Let me have a dig around.

I seem to remember a plug in for WinAmp that allowed you to install a plugin that would play the protected AAC file into an MP3 as fast as your disk would go. No need to wait for it to play, and could be done in batches.
