How Far On Tank Of Petrol

I think I can beat nearly all of you , I went from London to Guisborough in Cleveland and back on one tankfull , 519 miles in total , I ran out of petrol as I pulled up to the pump to refill ! Thats 70litres in my 1989 190 2.5-16V . In Europe I frequently get 475 miles before my bottle goes .

However on the track I can get barely 150 miles out of a tankful , and that equates to 9.65 mpg !!!

Have just spent 36 hours in Houston, Texas. Hertz kindly upgraded me to a 6.2 V8 /430hp Corvette.....

102 miles.

I think it has a 17 Gal tank....as I got it REALLY low, and put 16.3 in it........ but that's US gallons.

Can't do the maths, but had a lot of fun in it !

I can do the math ... 16.3 US galls = 13.57 IMP galls .

102 miles @ 13.57 = 7.5 mpg

= Big Fun !!

550km to 75 litres which works out at just over 20mpg.

Dave!

My C180 Petrol Auto used to get 350 miles for 60 quid , its always been heavy on fuel but lately its using fuel like it was free , im changing the mass air flow meter tommorow, hopefully it'll make it'll be a bit better. my wee old renault clio 1.2 will do 375 for 35 quid!.
I'll upload pics of it when ive reached x number of posts lol.

That sounds impressive. My C220CDi will give up to 550 on one tank. I prefer to calculate mpg. About 42-43 winter, 45 or so summer. Most of it just under 70 on dual carriageway.

Anybody got figures on CLK270 - that's what I'm after next.

ML best around 500miles around 28mpg (3.7 v6 auto) worst in its teens...
A class Best around 450miles around 45mpg (2.1 manual)
SL500 (dads) 28mpg (5.0 V8 auto)
W211 (dads) E320Cdi estate almost any journey over 40mpg (once had a range of 1000 miles at 55mph with space saver on)
A170Cdi (brothers) around 50mpg

530 miles on 80litres/17.5 gallons - R230 SL500 with heart in mouth for last 30 miles !

My C270 does over 40mpg in summer and about 36 - 38 in winter, mixture of M25 and A roads and i do have a degree of lead in my right foot.....Should be same roughly as CLK270.....

well on my old c240 estate i got 25-30 mpg on a long run mainly motorway at 70mph exact gov ! but on my C32 it is 29-34 on a similar route. Unless I drive it like I should do then 22-27mpg :D

...but which makes you happier??

:) I drove from Austria to Luxembourg (quite fast.. 27 mpg) without having to buy petrol in Germany.... at German prices. Was then able to reach Blighty, where, believe it or not, fuel was cheaper than France Belgium and Netherlands.

I am so mean.

I filled up yesterday and noted the mileage. Will report at next fill up. I expect to be about 40mpg in mixed conditions with no long trips. I used to get some of my bigger engined motorbikes into the low 20's with proper spirited riding.

On the bike I get about 140-160 miles (19-litre fuel tank (4-litre reserve)) depending on conditions before the low-fuel light comes on (doesn't have a fuel gauge - just have to keep an eye on the trip meter). About high 30s mpg-wise stop-start, and about 50ish on motorways.

Many many years ago had a Shadow and home to work and back again was a gallon. 8 miles! Also an AC 428 Frua convertible. That wasen't much better when you booted it. None of the oldies were much good on fuel. The old V12 E's around 12 mpg. Those were the days!!

:D I have BMW 1200RT LE the range on a tank (27lts) of fuel here in UK is around 280>300 miles, last summer on continent we (2 up Loaded) were getting 300+ miles even though we were tramping on. Wife did witter about having a bit of Bum ache in between fuel stops though.

I've used my 2000 CLK 320 Cab just in stop start town traffic for the last couple of weeks and am definitely getting less than 20mpg, so I'll be lucky to get much past 200 miles out of the tank, having said that I've only done 90miles in the last fortnight
