How much clobber is in your car?

I do quite often stop and help people if I see them in trouble by the roadside - I have towed people to safety if broken down in a dangerous spot , given petrol to those who have run out , extinguished an underbonnet fire in an Audi with the helpless young man looking on , then disconnected his battery , changed wheels for lone women/elderly motorists who were incapable of doing it themselves - I seem to find myself helping someone out two or three times a year .

You almost made me cry. :)

No seriosuly, it's great that there are people out there helping others.

I. Maybe it just reflects my experience.:dk:

That sounds about right. As mate with a 1990s XJR carries all number of spare parts in his boot, almost like he knows what's going to break next.

I can't carry too much stuff in my car, because of work even though I have to do silly thousand miles a year, and there are times when I collect 4 people, with a boot full of luggage. All my stuff has to be in the door pockets and underneath the boot in the spare wheel well:

In the car:
Gloves
TomTom
Mints
Business Cards
AA Greater London Atlas
Philips Motorists Atlas (cheap one from 99p store)
Marker Pens and a ream of Tesco Value paper (for meet & greets)
1 x £10 note, 1 x £5 and some pound coins (float)
Lost property: a pair of gloves and a comb
Some crayons a child left behind
Calculator (if someone wants to pay me in Euros or Dollars)
Some leaflets on London (mainly for tourists who are here for the first time)
A couple of hangers (if I, or the passengers want to hang their jacket)

In the boot (tucked nicely to one side):

High visibility jacket
Large piece of old carpet, and a big bag of cat litter (in case I stuck in snow)

Under the boot, in the spare wheel well:

Torque wrench, extension bar, 17mm socket (the wrench which comes with the car is far too short and useless)
Tow rope
Air freshener (aerosol)
Spare bulbs
Interior wipes
Black & Decker mini vacuum cleaner
Gloves (rugged type)
Philips Atlas, the big one with the 1.5inch to 1 mile scale.
Glass cleaner
Another hanger

Also I bring with me a bag to carry my laptop in, and a power inverter.

All I need for a day's work! :p

- oh yes and on the rear parcel shelf, a Mercedes umbrella and tissue boxes.

Everything is out of the way, no clutter, car is always ready for a load of passengers with their luggage!

Empty except for a few receipts in the armrest box. Don't even have the cargo cover and safety net because I think it looks too cluttered.

My boot is always full.I remember Niks last time told me my car look`s like toys r us shop

Aside from the usual standard gear I have:

In the boot:

Dog food, about 5 litres of water and bowl
Leccy air bed pump
Mini vacuum cleaner
A stunt kite (at all times) :)
Towel for dog
Usually walking boots, socks, gloves, hat and small rucksack for outdoorsy stuff.
Car cleaning bits & a few rags
Spare oil, ATF, washer fluid
Mini socket set/tool kit (used a few times to strip door cards at the side of the road to wind up stubborn windows)..
A straightened coat hanger for rodding car drains & poking stuff
Old floor mats (currently in use in the car over the clean over mats:o)
A load of webbing and bungees for occassional roof rack use
Currently lots of dead leaves...
Quite often a kiddy buggy.
A rechargeable lamp (boot light disconnected)

Most of the above sits in the wells at either side except the boot bag and buggy. The CE boot is vast.

Inside the car is pretty standard stuff apart from the toddler tat and further dog towel.

Ade

SL has minimal stuff beyond standard equipment - pad & pen, couple of microfibre cloths, small torch, road atlas in the boot. That's about it.

Vito has (in addition) spare bulb kit, jump leads, high vis jackets, extinguisher, etc. Then stuff for the dogs e.g.:

set of tailored window shades
reflective sheets, bungees, pegs, clips
5 litre water container
approx 8 dog leads
toys, titbits, clickers, 'pick up' bags
selection of running shoes for me & Mrs BTB
Dog first aid kit
Dog coats
Towels
Baseball caps
Umbrella
Contact training hoops
etc.

That's all in there permanently (the only time some of it comes out is when we drive to Germany). Before a show lots of other stuff for the 6 dogs and 3 kids goes in!

The Audi is like a mobile rubbish tip inside ...
