Post Office, fully comp, all bells and whistles inc breakdown etc, £50 excess, £220 premium.

HTH

don't forget folks, location is a big factor in insurance premiums

Post office £660!!!

Direct Line - £310 inc everything

Admiral, 2 cars on the policy, fully comp, £300 excess £550 total! :)

Coming up on renewal at the end of the month. Just tried MB - £ 590.00!!!
EEEEEkkkkkkkkk.........

Best comparison so far £ 558.10 with £ 200 lower excess.

The search continues.

Why you crying?
3 years in UK and have Volvo S40 proposed with price £880 and Merc W210 320CDI @ £1400 and you still complaining?

Its a typical attitude I guess that anything is toooooo expensive, but I reckon I will be able to get a decent insurer to provide cover for less. Just a question of finding them.

For example I recently imported a car and only a few insurers will insure on a VIN number to allow the car to be imported and registered.

First quote was £ 320 then Flux came in at £ 280 with the same excess and after about 10 mins on the phone listening to the old "what do we have to do to place this now?", the premium was reduced to £ 200.

Maybe £580 doesn't seem much - but it is to a miserable sucker like me :p

Renewal for the CLK55 came in at around £260ish this year.

That was a 'modern classic' type policy through Peter Best and included a 10% discount from being in the Mercedes-Benz club :)

Fair enough it's a garaged 2nd car that doesn't do many miles, but I thought that good value considering. Includes all the usual legal protection, European cover, zero excess on glass etc :thumb:

Will

That's an exceptional price their Will, considering your age. For reference, my wife of similar age pays the same for her Smart car!

As already stated you need to compare like for like, area, vehicle, no claims etc. I paid £105 last year to the AA for fully comp, with protected no claims, legal cover and free breakdown cover, this year quote now £135. When I tried the comparison sites prices varied from £125 to nearly £300 for exactly the same cover.

the usual internet price compare sites are the lowest you'll get. the only way to have a low price with a more 'well-known' company is to stay with them for a number of years and drive the renewal prices down as the come - using the internet price compare offers as a bench mark - hate to say it, but loyalty/ familiarity does pay.

Woooha! Just checked for an online quote form MB, it is much much higher than I what I currently pay Aviva. In fact it is more than double.... I guess that as said it really depends on many variables, MB's quote might come out cheaper for someone with different circumstances or address to mine.

Obviously another factor in this is how many cars of your make/model/spec had insurance claims in your home area (down to postcode lotteries again I'm afraid) in the past year.
