How much do you pay & to who?

As already stated you need to compare like for like, area, vehicle, no claims etc. I paid £105 last year to the AA for fully comp, with protected no claims, legal cover and free breakdown cover, this year quote now £135. When I tried the comparison sites prices varied from £125 to nearly £300 for exactly the same cover.

You beat me. £113 with swiftcover provided I requested a new one very year. This coming September is going to be sky high, I heard due to the new tax and all the rubbish excuses.:(

the usual internet price compare sites are the lowest you'll get. the only way to have a low price with a more 'well-known' company is to stay with them for a number of years and drive the renewal prices down as the come - using the internet price compare offers as a bench mark - hate to say it, but loyalty/ familiarity does pay.

I got told exactly the opposite with one insurance company I was with, they sent me a quote for a renewal and it was a bit high so I searched for some other quotes, using a comparison site the same company came up with a lower quote, so I phoned them and asked if they could explain the difference in price.
The sales person said it is because we don't give a discount on renewals, if I wanted the cheaper price I would have to wait for the policy to expire and then apply for a new one. This is what I did and it saved me £60. How crazy is that???

That's an exceptional price their Will, considering your age. For reference, my wife of similar age pays the same for her Smart car!

It's pretty good, but still twice what I used to pay to insure the 190E 'Cosworth' 2.5-16 of identical value in the past (and I would've been younger then). That was a fully comp classic policy too with an agreed valuation.

It definately pays to shop around as last year when I bought the AMG I was getting silly quotes of upto £1k and many well beyond! :wallbash:

Post Office, fully comp, all bells and whistles inc breakdown etc, £50 excess, £220 premium.

HTH

Is this an online quote or from their shop?

Mine is up for renewal in Sept (I'm anticipating between £300 & £400, over 50, max no claims with protected bonus). The general feeling at the moment is that car insurers have lost loads of money recently and are out to claw their money back from guess who, us the fair playing motorist.

This was in the PO building itself.

I won't deal with things like insurance any more except face to face with a live human being.

Post Office £1022 - that's more than double my renewal with Elephant.

I pay £2767.66 for fully comp, with 1-years no-claims.

Which isn't bad considering -

1 - It's for hire and reward (my job- I'm self-employed, so it's tax deductible, which helps a lot)
2 - My age
3 - In London
4 - Unlimited mileage
5 - The car isn't exactly slow/underpowered!
