After nearly 40 years of never having had an accident I became one on one yesterday with a Pheasant. Amazingly he / she made it but my natty intelligent light system headlight unit did not.

The good people at MB Tonbridge have just quoted £1327.00 including VAT to replace the unit.

Ouch!

Seems a Dumb light system to me now.

That is expensive. You can always go see Alfie :-) It is a bumper off job though which MB have probably allocated hours to do.

As Richard said.

Plus, not going to MB dealer has an additional advantage: after taking it apart, Alfie will actually put it back together just as it was before... :D

They have allocated 1.5 hours

What would you charge Richard? They told me to make me feel better that a 2015 S class lamp unit is £3,500 can you believe?

My C63 headlight unit was only 935.00 fitted. Seems like a bargain!

Crazy money! No wonder insurance premiums are so high. Mind you, my wife's Volvo V50 failed its MOT because, somehow despite being a sealed unit, the plastic prism that it uses for its sidelights had mysteriously vanished. That cost about £750! I find these prices very difficult to justify. The Volvo light was really easy to replace, too, as it just unclips.

Shame you can't just strap some torches to the bonnet!

Hmmm, having Intelligent LED in the front of my C63S and already had two big front end smacks from now 'ex' Pheasants makes me wonder just when I am due a big bill!

Joys of living in a rural area I suppose

Mercedes are making it extra difficult by adding a qr code on headlamps that need to be sent off to mbuk, in return you get a code that needs to be put into star to activated the headlamp!

On the bonnet wouldn't meet construction and use any more (See MINI R51), but strapped to the body would be ok. :)
