HOW MUCH ????

Bury St Eds is part of Group 1 who also own Norwich, Cambridge. May be worth getting a price from MB Ipswich as they’re a different franchise.

It would be nice to know what is actually needed ? As a service A or B isn't a set service the additional items make the price

It’s not that uncommon for the additional items (eg plugs, ATF, etc) to come in as more expensive than the basic service itself.

I just had a 15 year service and the additional items were several multiples of the core service, although that’s an exceptional service.

If it’s the second MOT test the car must be approaching 4 years old? Perhaps there’s some additional items then - could even be spark plugs etc?

Don’t forget you’ll lose Mobilo if you take it out of the dealer network. Not saying that’s necessarily a problem for you but worth comparing apples with apples when you shop around.

Not sure who runs the Bury St. Edmunds branch but it’s a shame you’re not closer to somewhere like this:

Makes quite a difference cost wise on older vehicles :thumb:

Year 4 should be Service B plus brake fluid as a minimum... And possibly also air filter and fuel filter. So it shouldn't be a Service A, unless the annual sequence was interrupted at some point (e.g. due to high mileage).

Ive just had its 6 year service and yes it was a B service BUT needed
Plugs
All filters
Brake fluid
Diff oil
So basically the biggest service it will ever have 🙂

You pay for a courtesy car these days and have done for ages.
Not true, i've got an active service plan with Nottingham Mercedes (Inchcape) and other than putting back the miniscule amount of fuel I use, they're FOC to me when the cars in for scheduled maintenance. All dealers are not equal.

The price will be hidden in the service plan NOTHING is ever free 🤣

I have had another recall on my S211 regarding the sunroof, anyway the MOT is due and it is due an oil and filter change too ( my schedule) so thought I would ask my local dealer for a quote to carry out the oil and filter change and MOT it as it was there.

Good job I was sitting down, a mere £480, “takes nine litres of oil you know” said she.. wtf…

less than £100 for the parts from their parts counter and even less from the MB dealership in Newcastle inc postage.
That oil and filter change would be £149 at MB Guildford -

Well put it this way, I'm happy with what they bill me per month for the service they provide - if that includes the provision of a courtesy car when required, then so be it.

I take it you have just had the same service as me 🙂

I had my third of four services on this plan at the end of January. It was an 'A' service (with 2x unexpected front tyres) - had my plugs, filters etc done last year (mine is also somewhat out of sequence because of the way the previous owner skipped things I had to catch-up on).

Slim, do you have a specific contact at Gulforf?

I’ve read on MBClub about MB Guildford offering discounts for older cars through their Platinum programme. Their website says 20% off servicing for cars older than 5 years. They just quoted me the same as the online MB quote tool offered - so no discount despite what their call agent assured me - and i£200 more than my local dealer.

Dealer wants £972 each. Aftermarket supplier is shipping the pair to me for £145.
Sounds like our Yaris. Dead rear wheel bearings at 40K miles. 600€ each at Toyota. SKFs 100€ each and fitted ourselves. All well.
