How to demist windscreem on W203?

My 203 takes a little while as well (probably about 5 mins) and as mentioned the passenger side seem to get more air then the drivers, it'd be nice if with the UK pack they changed that.

It's worth cheking the drains in front of the windscreen i always point the preesure washer down mine but i recently done some work under they wheel arch trims and found they were still blocked.

There's the little bugger, although i wasn't getting a damp footwell it's a common problem and worth doing. They drain starts right at the bottom of the windscreen two holes one each side. After that keep the windcreen clean on the inside and i do wipe it with a micro cloth when it's bitterly cold but that's about it really i think it's just the way they are but it's a 100% better than my old mk4 golf.

You just made me remember the best car I ever owned for windscreen demisting - my 1990 Ford Escort RS Turbo! It had a 'quickclear' screen which had in built heating elements, I swear the screen cleared in 30 seconds of the roughest crud the weather could throw at the car, never even had to de ice the screen in all the years of ownership, just brilliant...

I'm on my second Merc, with bmw before and between, and IMO the Mercs are exceptionally poor at demisting in comparison to them and other cars! No idea why, but the fan speed is poor, and it seems to take longer to get warm air there.

Never understood why more manufacturers do not add this - I have had a few Fords (before I saw the light... LOL) with this and agree it was brilliant. Must add that in a very specific set of light conditions the fine elements can catch your attention, but the brain soon focuses them out

(Focuses - Ford. See what I did there? I'll get my coat...….)

Yep! I was going to mention the Ford i had with the heated windscreen, i miss that feature so much i do think about it in the morning when i'm shivering in the Merc. If it wasn't for the rubbish build quality of everything else on the ford i'd probably still have it.

Because Ford still own the rights/patent for this?
Our SEAT Alhambra had the heated screen, brilliant. Something to do with the Alhambra being a Galaxy clone?
Mercs can be optioned with the heated screen but only as part of a Protection package (diplomats/oligarchs etc.. bullet/bomb protection )

Ford used to licence the use of heated front screens to other manufacturers, it was (possibly still is) an option on Caterham cars :)

Had this on a 1987 Scorprio (Granada Mk3)... worked quite well.

Replacement windscreens were quite expensive though, unless you were happy with an aftermarket windscreen without the built-in wire mesh.

They didn't defrost the side windows though...

Just poured a watering can of water down each drain hole and it went straight through to the wheel well, so both channels are cleared, worth doing though just in case!

Thats great saves getting soggy feet so i have read.

I wish i took another picture of all the white stuff that came out of tubes when when i removed the wheel arch liner. Although the water was flowing ok i think that the liner sits quite close to the tubes so the bigger bits weren't escaping.

I was thinking about this thread last night while microwaving my demister sachets, they help a little but need recharging every fews days in winter more a placebo for me i think. However one that did help when it's frosty is a screen cover i used a cut to size piece of underlay last/early this year which is in the shed though last night i saw one of these so thought i'd give it a try as it folds better than the underlay in the boot.

It was £10 last night in the daily deals not the £13.99.

Wow, what an interesting product! I'm not a fan of Amazon though, and just bought one on your recommendation on Ebay - £2.60 inc P&P so quality of mine is likely crap, but for the price of a tin of deicer, I'll try it next time it's forecast freezing weather and see if it helps - thanks buddy!
