How to disable 'tapping' on a Keysonic wireless touchpad/keyboard?

Hi everyone,

Recently in this thread I was looking for a wireless keyboard with a built in mouse/touchpad.

After some thought I went for the Keysonic AC-540RF link as it seemed to fit the bill for features and had a touchpad which was my main concern - the sony looked nice but it was out of stock wherever I looked and was four times more expensive, plus more bulky!

Anyway, keyboard is great - does exactly what it says on the tin, but has one frustrating feature that I'd like some advice on.

As with any laptop that I've used with a touchpad (normally with a 'synaptics' driver) it has a tapping function on the touchpad. Ie, lifting the finger off the surface, then back down again will simulate the left click of a mouse. I find this difficult to use and end up clicking on items I didn't intend to and dragging icons all over the place!

On the synaptics software, there is an option to disable this feature from within the control panel - under 'mice' and 'properties' from what I remember? I've looked on this system, but to no avail :( Running on Windows XP and it's identified as a 'HID-Compliant Mouse'

Have had a search around on the net but with no joy :( Has anyone else got any suggestions as to how I can disable this tapping feature?

Many thanks :)

Will

Although the Keysonic is technically plug & play there's a good chance the touchpad is supported by the generic Synaptics Drivers. Download and install and see if it will intercept the mouse commands as if it were a laptop

Thanks Masqueraid,

Have just tried a few times to install the Synaptics drivers but it doesn't seem to take the bait!

Basically setup installs and reboots but never properly installs the synaptics driver itself and by removing the 'HID-compliant' mouse driver, it will install the mouse on the next boot with an 'unknown' mouse driver which has the same function as before :(

I'd considered it before - maybe this is an unusual touchpad that isn't supported/compatible with the Synaptics s/w? Is there a way I can 'force' the driver upon windows to see what the reaction would be? Going back some years I remember drivers having a .inf file with them - this synaptics one doesn't unfortunately.

Any ideas most welcomed :)

Many Thanks,

Will

There should be a file called SynPD.inf somewhere in the installer package which has the same effect.

Did the driver package install enough so you can run the utilities from the programs list?
