The plastic cover around the gear shift (one with S & W switch attached) keeps lifting out of the surround panel. Now found out one of small the plastic retaining clips at front of cover has broken off. Looks like the whole cover along with leather gaitor has to slide up over gear shift handle, how? Is this a major job, as i can't see how cover can slide over shift knob.

All advice most welcome, thanks

Removed.

turn the clip at the base of the knob and remove the knob may have to give it a pull.
Ps get your mind out of the gutter.

Better then that, i give it a good tug than ask someone else eh

Serious note - so, below where knob connects onto stick, there is a plastic knurled piece that when i turn it, it only moves a small amount due to shape. Once this is undone then, the knob bit! will just pull straight up, with a bit of effort? I'll try it when car is back from body shop, corrosion issue!
