Hi
Not sure if this belongs here, I'm not able to post in how to at the moment !

I will be receiving my new plates sometime this week

The original plates are fixed with I assume double sided sticky pads, as there is no screws.

Currently my plates are in like a surround frame border from the dealer which I want to keep on.

Please can anyone tell me what is the best way to remove the existing plates without damaging the plates and most importantly not damaging my new car .

Can you also recommend which sticky pads to use to stick my new plates on.

Thank you guys.

Have you got a picture of the frames?

Often the dealer fit frames are screwed to the car, and the plates sit inside a frame/surround.

Depends if they were dealer fit or aftermarket.

Most of the MB dealer supplied frames will be Wurth type, either printed or plain. You can open those and just swap the plates over - no drilling or screwing or sticky pads etc required :thumb:

The black dealer frames will be screwed in place.

You just need to work-out how to carefully prise open the black frame and remove the license plate (then reverse the process when you insert the new plates).

It can be specially tricky with the front plate, because the holder will be bent due to the curved plinth, so you'll need to manage it carefully without breaking the frame.

Some frame (Wurth-type) will have a key:

(This is the type I have BTW)

The MB dealer plate holders I've had on my last 3 cars have had been anti tamper type , you need a twin pin type key to push into the twin holes left & right in the frame. You then have lift the top section and drop the bottom section to remove the number plate.
Should have looked at WILL'S post first - Wurth type
I've NEVER been given a key for these.

Thank you guys for the info and videos
Its help me greatly

Mone was just clip in and out so easy all i needed is flat screwdriver

Lucky the car came with plate holders, I had to stick mine onto the black plastic trim they have for my car,

Had to heat it up using a hair dryer to bend around the curve to stop it falling off! Was a nightmare to do but now it looks like it's stuck good and proper lol
