HRH crash

He doesn't have a licence to apply points to,
any fine would be small change, that we pay for anyaway,
his lawyers would cause great expence to the system, that we pay for anyway, so that any result to be meaningless.

The media would suffocate us with the goings on.

Good decision.

There was some jibber jabber recently about him handing his licence in to police but you say he never had one?

I think that what m80 meant was that now that Prince Philip handed-in his driving license, there are very limited options for punishment, as points can't be applied to a cancelled license (and neither can a driving ban). So there's little point in spending public money on a prosecution.

But I don't think m80 intended to imply that Prince Philip never had a valid driving license to begin with.

I agree that there is nothing to gain by prosecuting HRH. Thankfully he won't be seen on public roads driving again.
But I wonder what 96yr old Dave from Dagenham would expect if he were the driver in that collision? Would he be let off too?

I would except so - i.e. if he voluntarily handed-in his driving license. This would be a classic case of 'not in the public interest' to pursue a prosecution.

I wonder how many times Phil got away with speeding?

I'm not sure it's entirely fair comment, but is there a degree of karma in that, or is it merely schadenfreude on my part?

Or a warning? Don't #### with royalty. I sincerely hope I am very very wrong.

My thoughts precisely : " let she who is without sin cast the first stone "

‘I want him to know the full effect this is having on my life. I’ve never had surgery before and I’ll have this titanium plate for life.’

The horror, eh!

She needs to get over herself - she'll get a payout, like anyone else does, no doubt after her moment in the tiny, tiny beam of yellowing light has long gone.

Don't fret, you are.

Let's see.....DofE messes up, passenger in other car is injured, DofE surrenders his licence as a result of his bad driving. She offers herself up to any media outlet that'll have her, does her bleating......and then gets banned in her absence for offences committed prior to her interaction with DofE (2 speeders and a fail to identify driver). Hmmmmm. I love a good conspiracy theory - this isn't one of them though.
